We get to the heart of what matters
Shanahan is trusted by the leadership teams of early-stage, high-growth companies and many of New Zealand’s leading organisations to achieve better outcomes.
With extensive domestic and international experience across corporate, capital markets, community consultation and change communications, we’re well attuned to the needs and sensitivities of our evolving world. We understand what matters to our clients, to their audiences, and why.
Every client challenge is unique, which is why we take the time to listen, to hear and understand the truth about our clients’ businesses, passions and ambitions. We won’t cut corners with a been-there, seen-it, done-that solution.
That’s because we approach every project personally. We immerse ourselves in our clients’ worlds to determine the most considered and evidence-led pathway to the best possible outcome. Our clients know they can depend on us to go that extra mile to ensure every angle is considered and every step is executed with care.
Ultimately – and yes, you’ve heard this before – our client’s success is our success. What that means is we’re grown up and grounded. We combine our financial and commercial nous with unrestrained creative intellect for the purpose of managing our clients’ reputations. It’s not about us.
Our work
Shanahan’s work reflects a diversity of skills and experience and a high level of trust by our clients to deliver successful outcomes.
Our team is led by senior advisors Hugo Shanahan, Richard Llewellyn and Hannah Heberley. They each bring more than two decades of experience working with large corporates, listed companies, public sector organisations and not-for-profits.
Most recently, Shanahan has led communications and engagement workstreams to raise over $2.5 billion in new capital for clients; worked with a US-based multi-national on the rollout of New Zealand’s first protein-based COVID-19 vaccine; facilitated client-led government engagement programmes; implemented IPO and M&A campaigns and investor strategy days; created bespoke crisis communication plans; led crisis simulation exercises; implemented public information campaigns for land developments in the North and South Islands; and facilitated professional development and media training programmes.
